| Can't believe that Easter is already here. We had a pretty good day today. I made breakfast for Brian and I this morning while Benjamin was sleeping. It was nice to just have some time alone with Brian...we don't get that often enough since Benjamin requires so much of our time. Then my dad came over and we all went to church together. After church, my dad stayed for lunch. We grilled steak. It was so yummy! Then we just sat around and drank coffee and talked. it was a very nice...and lazy...afternoon. Here is a picture of Benjamin in his Easter outfit.
He's such a happy little boy
On another note: Today is my nephew Blane's 4th birthday. Unfortunatly, we weren't able to go visit him but I did get so spend some time with him last weekend while we were in OK City. Here we are at Brian's grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary

| Well, Benjamin is now 8 weeks old. I can't believe how quickly time is passing. Since my last post, he is now sleeping through the night (thank the Lord!) and I have stopped nursing. It was getting really frustrating because he kept throwing up every time I would nurse him. So, I called the dr. and they told me that there is most likely an enzyme in my milk that upsets his tummy and he may possibly be allergic to it. So, I felt that it was best to stop nursing. I really didn't want to and it still upsets me that I had to stop, but at least I was able to do it for 8 weeks. He is doing so much better with feeding now that he is strictly on a bottle and we got a schedule down pat. It's very nice.
Sunday, Benjamin and I are going down to FL with my dad for a week. It will be so nice to just get away and I am looking forward to it. It will be Benjamin's first trip. Let's hope he does well.
Brian had to work tonight, so Benjamin and I spent the evening together. He was my valentine this year.

| So, it's 1:30 in the morning and I am STILL up. Benjamin seems to be going through this phase (at least I hope it's just a phase) where he fights going to sleep and wants to keep me up ALL THE TIME. Not just at night, but during the day too. And he's going through a growth spurt so he's hungry NON STOP. And since I am nursing, I feel like he is always attached to me. Please pray that this will end soon and that Brian and I can get some sleep. And please pray that I don't go crazy until then!

| So, it has been quite a while since I updated my blog. Sorry about that. I have been a little preoccupied. As many, if not all, of you know my little Benjamin has finally arrived! He was born on Wednesday December 19 at 5:15 pm. I went to the dr. for my 39 week check up and they saw that my blood pressure rose pretty high and wanted to run some tests. So, after a long afternoon of waiting, the diagnosed me with preeclampsia and admitted me to labor and delivery and induced my labor. He was born about 24 hours later! I'm so glad he is finally here and couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present. His full name is Benjamin Scott VanAuken. He weighs 7 lbs 4 oz and is 21 inches long. He has a full head of hair and looks just like his daddy!!! He truly is amazing.

| Today is my last day of work! I am very excited about that. Sure I love my job and all, but it will be nice to have a little break. I am really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and not having to get all dressed up for work. I think we are all going out for lunch today since it's my last day. I went to the dr. yesterday. Everything is looking really well. I'm measuring right on track and Benjamin had a strong and steady heart beat. I am dilated 1 cm and 25% effaced which is very good progress since I didn't have anything last week. So, at this point, I could really go into labor at any time...depending on how quickly I progress. I'm so proud that I've hung in here this long. 38 weeks today. Pregnancy is not as easy as some people make it out to be. So, I feel very happy with myself that I was able to finish school and work full time while being pregnant. Please continue to pray that I can remain patient as I wait for my little man to arrive. And that he will be a healthy baby boy. Also pray that I have a fast and easy delivery, as I am planning on not having an epidural. | | |
